How We Restore Your Attic

Although they won’t be able to chew through insulation, the pests can easily tear it. The insulation material can be used as more than bedding. After all, the animals who are chewing at your attic’s ceilings will find a place for themselves in those holes, and then leave behind their own contaminants, such as urine and stool. With less insulation integrity these areas allow air to enter or escape, so you are losing money! Here are the steps we take to when performing attic restoration:

Scoop out Larger Feces Clumps

The first step is to remove any larger feces that have been left behind by pests. To get rid of the droppings from walls and ceilings, we use a long-handled device. If the droppings are dry or stuck on hard surfaces we will soak them in water, and then use a wire brush for scraping them off.

AAAC technicians use a tool with an extendable handle that allows them to climb up onto your roof to reach high places where squirrels and raccoons often leave their feces. The technicians may need to loosen large quantities of droppings from rafters and eaves so that they can safely remove them by hand or vacuum.

Vacuum Small Feces

A thorough vacuuming of small rodent waste pellets from attics is the next step in any attic renovation project. This is the only method that will remove tiny pellets of rodent waste from attics. AAAC uses a specially designed machine with a long enough hose so it can reach even the farthest corners of your attic. This machine has an extra-long vacuum tube and high-velocity suction. HEPA filters are included to remove any animal hair or droppings from insulation and other surfaces. AAAC will use a special brush to reach corners and other areas around the roof.

Small feces in an attic can be hard to see with the naked eye, so AAAC uses UV light to locate them. The UV light will show black dots where there are feces from animals like rats, bats, or raccoons.

Air Duct Cleaning & Repair

AAAC Wildlife Control also provides ductwork repair and restoration services. We can remove hair, droppings and urine. AAAC uses a special tool for cleaning the inside of the ducts. Once that is completed, we can spray a disinfectant over the ducts to kill any bacteria, viruses, or rodents that may have been left behind.

Decontaminate the Attic

The most important part of an attic restoration project after removing the critters is the decontamination of the attic of rodent feces and urine. This is an extremely important part of any attic restoration project. It’s done in order to protect your family against microbial pathogens which could be harmful if inhaled.

AAAC Wildlife Removal uses ultraviolet light to locate areas that have been contaminated by rodent droppings or other animals for this part of its attic restoration service. The technicians will then apply a disinfectant spray and clean up any animal feces.

AAAC Wildlife Removal will fog up the attic using a fine mist in order to kill microorganisms from animal feces. They use an electric sprayer to make a mist of microscopic drops that is invisible to the naked eye. The chemical residue from the droplets’ evaporation is toxic to microorganisms including bacteria, algae, and viruses.

Drying is crucial in attic restoration services because it eliminates moisture which can promote mold growth. AAAC may use a dehumidifier to ensure that all moisture evaporates from the attic wood and insulation. This prevents mold growth when the attic space is re-insulated.

Full Attic Insulation Replacement

To complete the restoration service, our technicians will remove the old insulation and then put in a new one. You must remove the insulation carefully in order to avoid damaging adjacent areas or making a mess. Insulation is wrapped around joists or rafters, so you must be careful not to pull it too hard.

Mold spores and other hazardous substances can be found in the insulation and released into the air when removed. Our technicians are required to wear masks in order not to breathe in any dangerous particles or substances that could get into the ducts.

The technicians will then install new insulation after the old insulation has been removed. This insulation must be cut to fit and fit snugly around rafters and joists. It is possible to leave some pieces behind by cutting things too close. To keep everything in its place during installation, technicians use masking tape or a duct sealer.

What is full attic restoration?

Attic restoration is a process to restore the function and appearance of an attic. Attic restoration can include insulation, cleaning up waste, and decontamination.

Attics typically lose their ability to insulate when they become dirty or dusty from accumulated dust, animal droppings, or ice accumulation. This is a way for more energy to escape your home than if you had insulation intact. The first step in decontamination is to use fans in interior areas where moisture has affected, such as bathrooms and closets.

How do you disinfect an attic?

Take out soiled insulation then disinfect the attic’s surface with an ultraviolet sterilizer or disinfectant. Finally, clean the surfaces to kill bacteria. To prevent reinfection, it is also important to clean all surfaces that have been in contact with contaminated material.

To ensure that the process is safe and efficient, insulation must be removed. For attic restoration, you will need to use a powerful suction device to remove any harmful materials, such as mold and bacteria, from surfaces like wood beams or rafters. A biocides washdown is performed after which any mold remains are removed. It also leaves behind an antimicrobial compound to prevent the growth of mold and mildew in the future. Lastly, light sterilization disinfects the area with ultraviolet lights similar to those used in hospitals.
